Introduction
Best Minds (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the EventMonitor mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Phone Number
We collect your phone number when you register for the App. Your phone number is used for:
- Account verification via SMS (one-time verification code)
- Uniquely identifying your account
- Associating your device with your 6-digit client ID
Client ID
When you register, our server generates a unique 6-digit client ID that is permanently associated with your account. This ID is used to identify your device in all communications with our server.
Status Messages
The App automatically sends status messages (“keep-alive pings”) to our server approximately every 5 minutes. These messages contain:
- Your client ID
- A timestamp
- Basic device information (platform and Android SDK version)
Device Information
We collect limited device information including your device platform (Android) and operating system version. We do not collect device identifiers such as IMEI, advertising ID, or hardware serial numbers.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Verify your identity via SMS during registration
- Generate and maintain your unique client ID
- Receive and store status messages from your device
- Monitor the connectivity status of your device
- Maintain and improve the App
Third-Party Services
Google Firebase
Our App uses Google Firebase for:
- Firebase Authentication — to verify your phone number via SMS
- Cloud Firestore — to store your client record and status messages
- Cloud Functions — to generate your unique client ID
Firebase may collect additional data as described in Firebase Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers located in the United States. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Firestore security rules that restrict data access to authenticated users
- Each user can only read and write their own data
- All communications between the App and Firebase are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. Status messages are retained indefinitely to provide a historical record of device connectivity. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at the email address below.
Offline Data
When your device is offline, status messages are stored locally on your device using Firebase offline persistence. These messages are automatically transmitted to our server when your device reconnects to the internet. Locally cached data is stored only on your device and is not accessible to other apps.
Children Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability
